Northview has gotten off to a great and balanced start to the 2024 season.
The Vikings are 3-0 and they’ve outscored Durango, South Hills and Glendora by a combined margin of 102-10.
NHS hadn’t allowed a single point on defense until GHS scored 10 points last night at Covina District Field.
And as well as the defense has played, the Vikings’ offense has been about as consistent as one could be.
They’ve scored 33, 36 and 33 points, respectively, in week-zero through week-two games.
You don’t have to be a Rhodes Scholar to understand that NHS relies heavily on their run game.
This season’s workhorse is senior running back, Keanu Tauvao.
Tauvao gained 184 yards on 20 carries in a 33-10 victory over the Tartans.
Tauvao’s 60-yard TD run in the second quarter extended the Northview lead to 20-7.
Through the first three games, Tauvao has 489 rushing yards on 52 carries and six TD’s.
He’s gained 149, 156 and 184 yards in the first three games of his senior campaign.
His next closest teammate, Dominic Munoz, has 40 less carries and is 423 yards behind Tauvao.
