Area football fans wondered if Glendora would be the first Northview opponent in three games to actually score in Saturday’s night’s showdown at Covina District Field.

And the Tartans answered that in the affirmative, as Tim Johnson tossed a 51-yard TD pass on a trick play to Jarod Ceniceros midway through the first quarter to give GHS a 7-0 lead.

However, Northview would outscore GHS, 33-3, the rest of the way, and the Vikings claimed a 33-10 victory to improve to 3-0.

NHS had a 221-33 advantage on the ground.

Keanu Tauvao carried the ball 21 times for 179 yards, and that included a 59-yard TD run in the second quarter to extend the Northview lead to 20-7.

Erik Jimenez completed 6-of-12 for 126 yards.

Jimenez tossed a 43-yard TD pass to Isaiah Lucero, and he scored on a 4-yard TD run in the first quarter.

Dominic Munoz had 20 rushing yards on four carries, and a 6-yard TD run.

Matthew Gonzales scored on a 1-yard TD run and he finished with 13 yards on three carries.

Lucero had game highs in receptions (5) and receiving yards (143).

Glendora freshman Sebastian Lawrence completed 9-of-19 for 91 yards.

Nazir McGlothen led GHS with 27 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Ceniceros had two catches for 53 yards and Simon Zwick reeled in four passes for 14 yards.

Tim Johnson had a 25-yard reception in Saturday’s loss.

Up next: GHS will have its bye week and then travel to Ayala on September 20th.

NHS will meet up with Covina at CDF next Friday at 7.

The Colts (3-0) overcame five deficits to defeat Diamond Ranch, 45-39, on Thursday.
