Football:
Through week one of the 2024 season, the Charter Oak football program has already matched its regular season win total in 2023.
In week zero, the Chargers trounced Canyon Country, 44-6, behind 293 yards passing and three TD’s from their junior quarterback, Corin Berry.
Last night, the Chargers secured a 20-point fourth-quarter lead against visiting Chino Hills, and they held on for a 34-21 victory.
Berry completed 19 of 30 for 280 yards, and that included scoring strikes of 3, 14, 16 and 21 yards.
Marquis Bradley had 14 and 31 TD receptions for COHS.
Chino Hills quarterback Alex Medyn threw for 201 yards.
He tossed a 28-yard TD pass to Cameron Bateman, and he and Calum Ferrel hooked up on a 25-yard TD.
Medyn also scored on a 1-yard TD run with 1:28 to go in the first half to give Chino Hills a 14-12 lead.
Up next: Chino Hills and Charter Oak will both be in action next Friday.
CHHS will welcome Colony in their home opener.
The Titans (0-2) fell, 42-27, at El Modena.
COHS travels to Muir.
The Mustangs (0-1) had a week-one bye, and they dropped a 27-7 decision at Bonita in their season opener.
