Quotable:
Maranatha coach, Rand Holdren: “We had a lot of first-game mistakes. We went down 12-0 in the first quarter and battled back to a 21-12 lead at halftime. We had three possessions in a row where we fumbled and battled kids cramping the entire second half. People said it was an exciting game from all the back-and-forth that was going on. Nico Vergara went off and Luke had 301 yards.”
Maranatha quarterback, Luke McNulty: “We started off pretty slow offensively, but we settled in and found a rhythm. We still made mistakes, but it was a good day overall.”
