Benash Goes Six Strong & Allows One Earned Run & Del Villar & Whobrey Combine for Five RBIs in Outlaws’ 10-4 Victory Over Sentinels

After surrendering three runs (one earned) in the bottom of the first inning to the Arroyo Seco Sentinels in game one of the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League best-of-three championship series, Jared Benash settled down and earned the win in a 10-4 victory for the California Outlaws.

Benash went six innings, and he allowed just one earned run on five hits.

Benash walked three and fanned a pair of Sentinels.

Brian Garcia provided two scoreless (eighth and ninth) innings in relief and allowed one hit.

Garcia didn’t issue a walk and struck out one.

Evan Nahra went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI on a sac fly.

Devon Eskridge tripled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

AJ Beltre walked, singled and scored, and Cider Canon singled and scored.

Cam Andrews walked and had an RBI, and Bryan Richman scored one run.

Omar Cisneros and Devin Munoz had one hit apiece for the Sentinels.

Alex Cohen was charged with the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on two hits over 1 1/3 innings.

Cohen walked five and struck out two.

Trailing 3-0 in the top of the second inning, the Outlaws scored five times, and the Sentinels never led again.

They added four runs in the top of the fourth to put the game away at 9-3.

Jason Del Villar has been outstanding throughout, and on Tuesday, he went 3-for-4 with a walk, triple, two runs and three RBIs.

Aaron Whobrey singled twice, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Matt Diaz drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.

Seth Reker walked, singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Marcus Moyer walked twice and scored.

Clay Porter singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Vito Fowler walked and scored.

Diego Frey drew three walks and scored two runs.

Luke Viola singled and scored.

Up next: To secure the inaugural BCCSL title, the Outlaws need a win tomorrow (Wednesday) in either game two at 12:30 at Ben Hines Field in La Verne, or in game three, which would take place right after the conclusion of game two.
