The Ventura County Bucs trailed 3-0 in the top of the eighth inning of their must-win contest against the first-place Arroyo Seco Sentinels on Wednesday.
The Bucs entered the day one-half a game up on the fifth-place Orange County Juice for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League.
And the VCB scored six times in the top of the eighth to claim a 6-3 victory at Brookside Park in Pasadena.
Doug Pyle was charged with six unearned runs on five hits over his two innings of work.
Pyle walked one and fanned three.
Skylar Chang went 3-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases, a run and two RBIs.
Hudson Story singled and drove in a pair of runs.
John Trainor singled twice and scored.
Ryker Billingsley went 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Anthony Cuevas singled and scored.
Jayden Rez scored and had one RBI.
Alex Howard walked and was hit by pitch.
James Cooker was credited with the win after going 1 1/3 scoreless innings and allowing one hit.
Cooker walked three and struck out three.
Anthony Cuevas got the final three outs and struck out one to finish out the win for the Bucs.
Omar Cisneros went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Josh Phillips walked, was hit by pitch and scored.
Mark Manuel, Bryan Richman and Jason Givens singled once each for Arroyo Seco.
Cider Canon walked, was hit by pitch and had an RBI.
Nate Longoria walked and had an RBI.
