Baseball:

And just like that, the Ventura County Bucs are in the mix to make the postseason.

A couple weeks ago, the VCB was riding a 10-game losing streak after a great start to the inaugural Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League season.

They found themselves, however, in fifth of a six-team lead.

Fast forward to Tuesday, and with a 4-3 victory over the California Outlaws, the Bucs have gone 5-0-2 in their last seven games, and more importantly, they leapfrogged the Orange County Juice into fourth place.

It’s only a half-game lead with a couple to go, but the top four teams will move on to the playoffs.

Robert Snyder was credited with the win after going three scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.

Snyder walked one and fanned a pair of Outlaws.

Colby Bette provided five innings of relief, and he was charged with three runs on four hits.

Bette walked two and fanned five.

And Hunter Boylan got the final three outs to earn the save.

Matt Diaz singled, tripled and scored two runs.

Marcus Moyer went 2-for-3 with all three Outlaws’ RBIs.

Clay Porter drew a pair of walks and scored.

Logan Corthell had a single.

Jared Benash went six innings for the Outlaws and he allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits.

Benash walked three and struck out six Bucs’ batters.

Jarrett Segura drew a pair of walks, doubled and scored.

John Trainor walked, doubled and drove in two runs.

Nomar Vazquez singled and scored.

Skylar Chang walked and tripled.

Nicholas Mattera went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Eddie Perez singled twice and scored.

And Ryker Billingsley singled once in Tuesday’s win.

Will Kaczynski walked and scored.
