The Arroyo Seco Royals won’t make the postseason in the inaugural Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League season.

But they’re in a position to play the role of spoiler.

On Friday, the Royals claimed a 10-3 victory over the Orange County Juice.

The top four programs in the six-team BCCSL will qualify for the postseason, and after Friday’s loss, the OVJ leads the fifth-place Ventura County Bucs by one-game in the win column, and they meet up on Sunday.

Sean Elsee went four scoreless innings and allowed just one hit to earn the win.

Elsee issued one walk and struck out six OCJ batters.

Isaiah Pacheco hit a three-run HR for the Juice.

Matt Santiago and Lucas Gabay drew a pair of walks and scored one run apiece.

Jaden St Cyr singled and doubled.

Marcus Ziegler had a double for Orange County.

Jordan Sheridan was charged with the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits over 2/3 of an inning.

Sheridan walked one and he struck out one Royals’ batter.

Joaquin Salcedo went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs and five RBIs.

Blake Beckley singled three times, scored three runs and drove in one.

Brennan Beckley had a pair of singles and one RBI.

Nate Slaman went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

Nick Cook walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.

Patrick Fregoso had an RBI single.

Anthony Sereno walked and scored.

Chase Smith singled.
