Baseball:
Since snapping a 10-game losing streak in the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League, Ventura County has gone 3-0-1 over their last four games.
On Thursday, the Bucs pounded out a 12-4 victory over the California Outlaws.
Matthew Helguerra got the loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Helguerra walked one and struck out six VCB batters.
Will Kaczynski went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, three runs and an RBI.
Hudson Story drew three walks, doubled, scored and drove in two runs.
Nomar Vazquez went 1-for-1 with two walks, a double, three runs and one RBI.
John Trainor walked, singled and scored.
Jarrett Segura went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Ryker Billingsley and Joshua Sotelo singled and scored one run apiece.
Nicholas Mattera singled and drove in two.
Simon Hoffman drew a pair of walks, scored and had one RBI.
Dylan Nolan Cook went three innings, and he was charged with one run on four hits.
He didn’t issue a walk and struck out three.
Chase Aurand provided four innings in relief, allowing three runs on six hits.
Aurand didn’t walk anyone, and he fanned six Outlaws’ batters.
James Cooker closed out the win with two scoreless and hitless innings.
Cooker walked one and struck out five.
Matt Diaz tripled and drove in a pair of runs.
Marcus Moyer had two doubles.
Logan Corthell doubled and scored.
Diego Frey and Clay Porter singled and scored one run apiece.
Luke Viola went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Seth Reker walked and singled, and Jared Benash had one single for the Outlaws.
Up next: The Outlaws and Monarchs face off Friday at Occidental at 1.
The Bucs will battle the first-place Sentinels on Saturday morning at 11:15 at LA Valley College.
