San Gabriel Valley Monarchs & Ventura County Bucs Tie, 12-12, in Wednesday’s Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League Game

The Ventura County Bucs didn’t win a third consecutive game on Wednesday, but they were able to settle for a 12-12 tie with the San Gabriel Valley Monarchs.

And the VCB out-hit the SGVM, 15-8, at Ben Hines Field in La Verne.

Over the last three games, the Bucs have a 48-23 combined advantage in base hits over the Juice, Sentinels and Monarchs, respectively.

To their credit, the Monarchs scored seven runs in the last two innings to force a tie.

Ventura County’s Hunter Boylan (two innings pitched) and Nomar Vazquez (one) were the only two of the game’s 10 pitchers not to surrender a run.

VC Bucs offensive leaders:

Ryker Billingsley went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, run and three RBIs.

Will Kaczynski singled three times and drove in a pair of runs.

Carson Chavez went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

Skylar Chang walked, tripled and scored three times.

Jarrett Segura drew a pair of walks, singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Eddie Perez went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and one RBI.

Carter Bennett singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Nomar Vazquez singled and scored.

Alex Howard went 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI.

Hudson Story tripled for the Bucs.

SGV Monarchs offensive leaders:

Jake Trabbie extended his current hit streak to 17 games with a single, walk and two runs scored.

Jake Hernandez drew a pair of walks, singled, scored twice and drove in two, including one via sac fly.

Adrian Roman went 1-for-3 with two walks, a pair of runs and one RBI.

Shane Dougherty walked, tripled, scored and drove in two runs.

Daniel Moreno doubled and drove in three.

Dominic Del Hozo singled and scored.

Jadon Gonzalez walked, singled and scored.

Alex Salazar went 2-for-4 with a walk and one RBI.

Joey Caponianco drew two walks and scored.

Benny Vogel walked three times and scored one run.

John Nauertz walked and scored.

Up next: Both programs will be in action on Thursday at Ben Hines Field in La Verne.

The Monarchs will meet up with the Arroyo Seco Sentinels on Thursday at 1, and the Bucs and California Outlaws face off at 4.
