Josh Porter Went Five Scoreless Innings, as SGV Monarchs Defeat Ventura County, 5-3, on Saturday; Bucs Dropped 10th Consecutive Game

After beginning the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League 5-1, the Ventura County Bucs fell on Saturday for the 10th consecutive time.

The San Gabriel Valley Monarchs scored four times in the top of the first inning, and they went on to defeat the Bucs, 5-3, at LA Valley College.

Colby Bette got the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over four innings.

Bette issued a pair of walks and struck out three Monarchs’ batters.

Jake Trabbie went 2-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.

Jake Hernandez walked, doubled, scored and drove in a run.

Jadon Gonzalez singled, doubled and scored.

David Shackleford had an RBI double and scored one run.

Ivan Barragan walked and doubled.

Benny Vogel drew a pair of walks and scored.

Matt Rice had an RBI single.

Josh Porter was credited with the win after going five scoreless innings and allowing three hits.

Porter walked two and struck out one Bucs’ batter.

Ryker Billingsley walked, singled and scored.

Hudson Story drew a pair of walks and scored.

John Trainor walked, singled and drove in a run.

Nomar Vazquez went 2-for-3 for the Bucs.

Carson Chavez walked and had an RBI.

Jarrett Segura was hit-by-pitch and scored.

Chase Aurand singled once.

Up next: Both programs will be in action on Monday.

The Monarchs battle the Outlaws at 3 at the Glendale Sports Complex.

And the Bucs host the OC Juice at 4:15 at LA Valley College.
