Arroyo Seco Royals Take Big Lead Early & Hold Off Sentinels, 8-7, in Friday’s Baseball Census Collegiate Summer Game

The last-place Arroyo Seco Royals defeated the first-place Arroyo Seco Sentinels, 8-7, in Friday’s Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League game.

The Royals led 6-1 and 8-3, but the Sentinels scored four times in the top of the ninth inning to nearly catch the underdogs.

Connor Ferguson got the win after going three innings and allowing one run on three hits.

Ferguson walked a pair and struck out one Sentinel.

Sean Elsee provided three scoreless innings in relief and allowed one hit, walked three and fanned five.

Jason Givens drew three walks, doubled, scored twice and drove in one run.

Evan Nahra went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and an RBI.

Grant Werdesheim tripled and scored.

Will Allen walked and had a two-run double.

Devon Eskridge walked, singled and had one RBI.

Omar Cisneros walked and finished with two RBIs.

Beau Stubbs walked, singled and scored two runs.

Tommy Golbranson and Josh Phillips singled once each for the Sentinels.

Cider Canon was hit-by-pitch and had one RBI.

Doug Pyle was charged with the loss after surrendering four runs (one earned) on five hits over three innings.

Pyle walked three and struck out four Royals’ batters.

Keedan Nadeau went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and three RBIs.

Nick Cook singled and scored a pair of runs.

Noah Alvarez drew three walks and he scored a pair of runs.

Patrick Fregoso walked twice and scored one run.

Isaiah Figueroa walked, doubled, scored and drove in one.

Aden Laureano singled and scored.

Joaquin Salcedo had an RBI single.

JL Goldman singled once for the Royals.

Up next: The Sentinels play a doubleheader on Saturday at Brookside Park in Pasadena.

They face the California Outlaws at 11, and then the Royals at 2.
