Baseball:
The San Gabriel Valley Monarchs took a 9-1 lead into the top of the seventh inning against the Orange County Juice in Friday’s Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League game.
The Juice, however, scored eight times in the seventh, and they got one more in the ninth to take a 10-9 lead over the Monarchs.
The Monarchs spoiled the massive Juice comeback, though, with two runs in the bottom of the ninth to secure an 11-10 walk-off victory.
Jaden Guzman was credited with the win after going the seventh, eighth and ninth innings and allowing one run on one hit.
Guzman didn’t issue a walk and struck out a pair of OCJ batters.
Sebastian Garcia went 2-for-4 with a double, HR, two runs and three RBIs.
Amari Yolas walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Nate Sterling went 1-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Lucas Gabay and Owen Gott had one walk, single, run and RBI apiece.
Jaden St Cyr drew a pair of walks and singled.
Jordan Sheridan doubled and scored.
Mario Catalan walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Makamae DuPont drove in a run on a sac fly.
Amari Yolas was saddled with the loss after allowing an unearned run and walking two Monarchs.
Adrian Roman went 5-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.
Shane Dougherty singled, doubled and drove in one.
Jake Trabbie drew three walks, doubled, scored a pair of runs and had one RBI.
Ivan Barragan went 2-for-5 with a run and one RBI.
Jake Hernandez walked, singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Alex Salazar went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
John Nauertz singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Landon Lowther singled and scored.
Dominic Del Hoyo walked and had an RBI.
Up next: The Monarchs and Ventura County Bucs face off on Saturday morning at 11:15 at LA Valley College.
The Juice travel to LA Valley College on Monday at 4:15 to battle the Bucs.
