First-Place Arroyo Seco Sentinels Snap Two-Game Losing Streak After Thursday’s 7-6 Victory Over San Gabriel Valley Monarchs

After taking an early 5-0 lead, the Arroyo Seco Sentinels found themselves six outs away from a third consecutive loss.

The Sentinels, though, scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning, and they edged the San Gabriel Valley Monarchs, 7-6, to remain atop the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League standings.

Arroyo Seco out-hit San Gabriel Valley, 13-5, on Thursday.

Max McGrady went four innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on one hit and a pair of walks.

Isaiah Diaz earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning, including one strikeout.

Ethan Nunez hit a two-run HR for the Monarchs.

Jake Trabbie walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.

Dominic Del Hoyo drew a pair of walks, scored and had one RBI.

Shane Dougherty singled and scored.

Landon Lowther went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.

Aidan Salcedo walked and singled.

Nate Skorheim got the loss after going one inning and allowing two runs on three hits.

Skorheim issued a pair of walks and struck out three Sentinels’ batters.

Bryan Richman moved from the leadoff spot to cleanup, and he went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs and an RBI.

Doug Pyle singled three times, scored and drove in one run.

Omar Cisneros went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Jason Givens singled twice and scored.

Mark Manuel walked, singled and had one RBI.

Josh Phillips singled and scored.

Evan Nahra walked with the bases loaded.

Beau Stubbs singled and Devon Eskridge scored one run in Thursday’s win.

Up next: Both programs will be in action on Friday at the Glendale Sports Complex.

The Monarchs face the OC Juice at 3, and the Sentinels battle the Arroyo Seco Royals at 6.
