Baseball:
After two days off, the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League opened the second half of their inaugural season on Saturday.
The Arroyo Seco Sentinels edged the California Outlaws, 9-8, at Brookside Park in Pasadena.
Trailing 4-0, the Sentinels scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning, two in the sixth and one in the ninth.
Kyle Noell went 3 2/3 innings and he was charged with six runs (two earned) on 10 hits.
Noell walked one and struck out one batter.
Doug Pyle provided 4 1/3 innings of relief, and he allowed one run on four hits.
Pyle walked one and fanned three Outlaws.
AJ Beltre was credited with the win in spite of allowing a ninth inning run on two hits.
Beltre didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.
Seth Reker went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Matt Diaz singled three times and he scored twice.
Diego Frey went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
Luke Viola singled twice and scored.
Vito Fowler singled, doubled, scored and drove in one.
Marcus Moyer hit a solo home run.
The Sentinels scored six unearned runs off Jared Benash on five hits.
Benash went three innings, and he walked a pair and struck out three.
Connor Feer was charged with the loss after allowing one run on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning.
Beltre singled in the game winner, and he finished with two RBIs.
Will Allen hit a two-run HR.
Tommy Golbranson doubled in a run.
Jason Givens tripled and scored.
Devon Eskridge walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Evan Nahra went 2-for-4, including a double, two RBIs, and he scored the game-winning run.
Nate Longoria drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Beau Stubbs doubled and scored two runs.
Josh Phillips and Mark Manuel walked and scored one run apiece for the Sentinels.
Up next: Both programs will be in action on Sunday at Brookside Park.
The Sentinels battle the SGV Monarchs at 2:30, and the Outlaws face the OC Juice at 6.
