Baseball:
The San Gabriel Valley Monarchs reached the .500 mark after Saturday’s 8-7 victory over the Ventura County Bucs.
And they accomplished that feat in spite of being out-hit, 14-7.
The Bucs committed three errors that cost them three runs.
Andres Pasillas was credited with the win after going two innings and allowing an unearned run on three hits.
Pasillas issued a pair of walks and struck out four Ventura County batters.
Ethan Dungo hit a two-run HR and scored a pair of runs.
Carson Chavez went 3-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Alex Olvera had an RBI double.
Nicholas Mattera walked, singled and scored.
Jarrett Segura walked and scored.
Eddie Perez singled and scored.
Ryker Billingsley walked, singled and scored.
Will Matuszak tripled for the Bucs.
Hudson Story walked and singled.
Chase Aurand, Nomar Vazquez, Carter Bennett and Will Kaczynski had one single apiece for Ventura County.
Millar Kuhl and Jayden Rez each had one RBI.
Colby Bette got the loss after surrendering three runs on five hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Bette walked one and fanned one Monarchs’ batter.
Jake Trabbie continues to tear the cover off the ball.
Trabbie went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run and three RBIs.
John Nauertz walked, singled twice and he scored three times.
Benny Vogel walked, singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Shane Dougherty walked and singled, and Alex Salazar singled in Saturday’s win.
Ivan Barragan scored two runs.
Up next: Both programs will be in action on Tuesday.
The Monarchs take on the California Outlaws at 4 at Ben Hines Field in La Verne.
The Bucs host the Sentinels at LA Valley College at 6:15.
