Baseball:
The California Outlaws and Orange County Juice split a doubleheader in Wednesday’s Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League.
The Juice claimed a 5-2 victory in game one, and the Outlaws salvaged the doubleheader, 6-1, in game two.
Game One Notes:
Ray Hernandez of Utah Valley went four scoreless innings to earn the win.
Hernandez allowed just one hit, didn’t issue a walk and struck out five.
Matt Diaz doubled and scored.
Jason Del Villar drove in a run on a seventh-inning sac fly.
Michael McQueen walked and scored.
Morgan Patito was saddled with the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits over one inning of work.
Patito didn’t issue a walk and fanned one OC batter.
Marcus Ziegler went 2-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Jaden St Cyr singled and drove in a run.
Chase Bernal went 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored.
Nate Sterling walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Lucas Gabay and Mario Catalan singled and scored one run apiece.
Game Two Notes:
Cam Van Echten got the win after three scoreless and hitless innings.
Van Echten didn’t allow a walk and he struck out five OC batters.
Kyle Lewis doubled.
Chase Bernal singled and drove in the only OC run, and Makamae DuPont singled for the Juice.
Cameron Hickox was charged with the loss.
Hickox went five innings, and he allowed six runs (three earned) on seven hits.
He walked two and struck out three Outlaws.
Ian Wolski went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Matt Diaz doubled and scored.
Nate Perry went 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
Teige Barrett singled in a run.
Seth Reker drew two walks and scored.
Jason Del Villar had one RBI.
Up next: The Juice face the Arroyo Seco Sentinels on Thursday at 1 at Hines Field.
The Outlaws battle the SGV Monarchs on Thursday at 4 at Ben Hines Field in La Verne.
