Softball:

Etiwanda has earned a spot in Saturday’s CIF State Division 2 Southern California Regional championship game.

The Eagles picked up a 1-0 victory at Granada Hills Charter on Thursday morning.

Cameryn Ortega tossed a two-hit shutout.

Ortega didn’t walk a single batter and struck out seven.

It took her 96 pitches to finish what she started, and 62 went for strikes.

Jocelyn Jimenez and Zoe Justman had one single apiece to account for the Granada Hills Charter offense.

Addison Moorman got the loss after allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings.

Moorman issued one walk and struck out nine Etiwanda batters.

Sixty-seven of Moorman’s 96 pitches were strikes.

Gisselle Peraza’s one-out solo home run in the top of the third inning was all Ortega needed.

Frankie Nevarez walked and had a pair of singles and Brianna Gutierrez singled once for the Eagles.

Up next: EHS will face the winner of this afternoon’s showdown between No. 1 Mater Dei Catholic and No. 5 King on Saturday in the So Cal Regional final.

If MDC wins, EHS will travel to Chula Vista, and if King knocks off the one-seed, the Eagles will host the Wolves.
