Eleven days after securing the first CIF-SS (D-5) baseball championship in school history, Chino Hills opened the CIF State Division 4 So Cal Regional playoffs with an 11-1 beatdown of visiting North Hollywood in six innings.
CHHS, the No. 1 seed in the D-4 bracket, scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and the Huskies were never challenged.
Chino Hills scored five times in the bottom of the sixth to end the game an inning early.
Brody Buoncristiani keeps adding to his remarkable sophomore year resume.
Buoncristiani went four scoreless innings and allowed one hit to earn the win.
He walked one and struck out seven NHHS batters.
Andrew Baldomino and Max Zaldivar both provided one scoreless inning of relief.
Baldomino and Zaldivar combined to strike out three.
North Hollywood scored once in the sixth inning thanks to a bases-loaded walk.
Enoch Yi got the loss after surrendering five runs (four earned) on six hits over four innings.
Yi issued a pair of walks and struck out four CHHS batters.
Frankie Brazil drew a pair of walks, scored twice and had an RBI double.
Cannon Billingsley scored twice, singled and drew a pair of walks, including once with the bases loaded.
Jacob Jimenez went 2-for-5 with a run and one RBI.
Jackson Gray walked, scored, had an RBI single and an RBI ground out.
Josh Mendez walked, singled and scored.
Jackson Aguayo drew a pair of walks, singled and had one RBI.
Favian Vasquez had an RBI single.
Tatum Borgogno scored, and he was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
CHHS has now won eight consecutive games.
Up next: The Huskies will host University City High of San Diego on Thursday at 4.
The Centurions (28-5) ended Colony’s season with an 8-2 road victory.
