Baseball:
Things looked great for the Ayala baseball program in Tuesday’s CIF-SS Division 2 semifinal at Moorpark.
The Bulldogs led the Muskateers 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
MHS, however, scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and they got four more in the fifth to secure a 7-5 victory.
Derek Nichols earned the win after going three scoreless innings and allowing two hits.
Nichols issued a pair of walks and struck out three AHS batters.
Aidan Erlandsen went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Elijah Duarte had a pair of doubles and an RBI.
Caleb Trugman singled twice and drove in a run.
Jaden Valenzuela walked, singled twice and scored.
Dylan Wood and Aiden Granados walked, singled and scored one run apiece.
Brody Gomez singled and scored.
Ayala stud sophomore Caleb Trugman was charged with seven runs (four earned) on nine hits over four innings.
Trugman walked one and fanned five MHS batters.
Isaac Huver provided two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Cameron Johnson went 3-for-3 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Robert Perez walked and finished with two RBIs.
Leon Chavez went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Carson Cerny singled, scored twice and drove in one run.
AJ Mai walked, singled and scored two runs.
Michael Leddy singled and scored.
