Lorenzano Recovers From Rocky Start & Mt. SAC Claims 17-5 Victory Over Cuesta at Super Regional; Mounties Finish Game on 16-0 Run

In game one of a three-team double elimination super regional, former South Hills pitcher Matt Lorenzano found himself on the mound at Palomar College, and Mt. SAC was already trailing Cuesta, 5-1, in the top of the third inning.

The Mounties sophomore, however, kept his composure and earned the win in a 17-5 victory over the Cougars.

MSAC would finish off Cuesta by scoring 16 unanswered runs on Thursday.

Lorenzano went seven innings, and he allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits.

He issued three walks and fanned seven.

Jack Clothier had three doubles, two runs and three RBIs for the Cougars.

Mikey Bell went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Diego Murrillo and Makani Nabarro singled and scored one run apiece.

Sean Strittmatter singled and had an RBI ground out.

Woody Brennan got the loss.

Brennan surrendered seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings.

He walked one and struck out one Mountie.

Blake Hagerty and Ty Thomas combined for six hits (three extra-base), six runs and eight RBIs.

Hagerty walked, singled, had two doubles, four runs and three RBIs.

Thomas went 3-for-6 with a triple, two runs and five RBIs.

Joey Rossetti walked, singled twice, drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Bryan Bradshaw walked, singled and scored.

Kaden Moeller singled, doubled, scored and had two RBIs.

Andrew Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a walk, double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Daniel Briones walked, had an RBI single, an RBI ground out and scored.

Gibby Morales singled and scored a pair of runs.

Diego Ortiz singled and scored three times.

Up next: The Mounties face Palomar on Friday at 1.

Cuesta was eliminated after its 17-5 loss to MSAC and later an 8-7 setback to Palomar in 10 innings.
