Baseball:
Diamond Bar played the role of spoiler on Thursday at South Hills.
The Brahmas shut out the Huskies, 1-0, with a run in the top of the seventh inning.
South Hills entered the game tied for first place in the Hacienda League with Walnut.
And the Mustangs defeated Los Altos, 4-2, to secure the outright league championship.
Quinton Mendoza got the win after tossing a three-hit shutout.
Mendoza walked two and struck out five South Hills batters.
It took Mendoza 92 pitches to finish what he started.
Paul Vazquez doubled for the Huskies.
Luke Bauer and Dom Prieto had one single apiece for SHHS.
A leadoff walk in the top of the seventh proved costly.
Robert Murphy drew a walk off Noah Malone and Jeremiah Jung’s RBI single off Bauer turned out to be the game’s lone run.
Jake Mestas had two of Diamond Bar’s five hits.
Daniel Park and Jayden Henness had one single apiece for the Brahmas.
Steven Jimenez and Christian Santoyo both provided three scoreless innings on the mound for South Hills.
