Baseball:
Marshall Fundamental officially wrapped up the No. 3 seed out of the Mission Valley League.
The Eagles cruised to an 11-1 victory over last-place El Monte on Tuesday.
With one MVL game to play, Marshall holds a two-game lead over fourth-place Mountain View.
Michael Gerst went three innings, and he allowed one run on no hits and two walks.
Gerst struck out six El Monte batters.
Samuel Gutierrez and Elijah Lain both provided one scoreless and hitless inning apiece.
Gutierrez and Lain combined to strike out four.
Offensively, Nate Callaway went 3-for-3, with a three-run inside-the-park home run.
Wes Pendleton doubled and scored.
Ryan Pandulo singled, had a two-run double and he scored twice.
Ethan Sparks had a two-run double and scored.
Ben Muro went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Caleb Delgado had an RBI single, an RBI ground out, and he scored two runs.
Derek Esparza walked and scored.
