College Baseball:
Chaffey College dropped the hammer on Barstow.
The Panthers crushed their visitors, 18-5, in Tuesday’s Inland Empire Athletic Conference contest.
Chaffey out-hit Barstow, 19-8, in the next to last game of the 2024 regular season.
Hunter Brasher was charged with seven runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings.
He walked three and fanned a pair of Chaffey batters.
Jacob Billings went 3-for-5, with a two-run HR, an RBI single and three runs.
Ryder Young walked, singled twice, scored a pair of runs and had one RBI.
Javier Mendez went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run and five RBIs.
Devean Alvarez drew a pair of walks, singled, scored twice and drove in one from the leadoff spot.
Preston Allen walked three times, tripled, scored three runs and had one RBI.
David Loera walked, singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in four.
Christian Mosqueda singled twice and scored two runs.
Aaron Whobrey singled twice and drove in one.
Yahir Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs.
Brock Mayer earned the win by going five innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits.
Mayer didn’t issue a walk and struck out 10 Barstow batters.
Kyle Pin walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and had one RBI.
Saveone Mayo singled twice and scored.
Andres Gonzalez, Manuel Barraza and Malachi Maestas had one-RBI double apiece.
Michael Carger singled and scored.
Aidan Nguyen walked and scored.
