College Baseball:
After securing a South Coast Conference series against the state’s No. 1 team (Cerritos), Pasadena City College headed to Rancho Cucamonga on Monday to battle the two-time Inland Empire Athletic Conference champions from Chaffey.
And the Lancers defeated the Panthers, 24-14, in a slugfest.
The game featured 38 runs, 36 hits, four errors and 10 pitchers.
Chaffey had an 8-2 advantage in extra-base hits.
Eighteen players had at least one hit on Monday.
The Lancers had leads of 15-4 and 21-7.
The Chaffey pitching staff issued 15 walks, as opposed to six for PCC.
Brian Garcia was charged with the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on three hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Garcia walked five and struck out one PCC batter.
Bryan Richman went 2-for-5, with three walks, one run and three RBIs.
Jack Esguerra drew a pair of walks, had three singles, two runs and an RBI.
Adrian Roman went 3-for-7, with two runs and three RBIs.
Evan Nahra walked, doubled, drove in one and scored three runs.
Ivan Barragan walked, had three singles, a double, five runs and three RBIs.
Mark Manuel walked, singled twice, scored three runs and had one RBI.
Devin Munoz went 4-for-6, with a walk, five runs and three RBIs.
Ryan Ivanyi drew three walks, singled twice, scored three runs and drove in one.
Thomas Villanueva was walked four times, and he scored a pair of runs.
Connor Campbell was credited with the win after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing five runs on six hits.
Campbell walked two and fanned four Chaffey batters.
Ryder Young went 2-for-4, with a double, home run and three RBIs.
Yahir Ramirez drew a pair of walks, singled, doubled, scored four times and had two RBIs.
Andrew Rodriguez went 3-for-4, with an RBI single and a two-run HR.
Preston Allen singled, hit a solo HR and scored two runs.
Michael Harrison doubled and drove in three runs.
Chance Kuhlmann walked, had an RBI double and scored.
Ryan Melton walked, doubled and scored.
Jacob Billings singled and scored.
