Etiwanda Knocks Damien Out of First Place in Baseline League After Monday’s 10-5 Victory in Game One of a Three-Game Series

In the last 48 hours, the Etiwanda baseball program knocked Baseline League competitors Los Osos and Damien out of first place.

On Saturday, the Eagles edged the Grizzlies, 3-2.

And on Monday, EHS outlasted the Spartans, 10-5, in a game that featured 20 hits.

Al Moreno went 4 1/3 innings and he allowed five runs on eight hits.

Moreno issued a pair of walks and struck out four Damien batters.

Eli Bechtel walked, singled and hit a two-run HR.

Devin Perez had a pair of singles and scored.

Elius Kelly hit a solo HR for the Spartans.

Nikko Paoletto walked, had an RBI double and scored.

JT Riley singled twice and scored.

Tyler Tancredi walked and singled.

Julian Hines had an RBI ground out.

Andrew Carter was charged with six runs (three earned) on five hits over two innings.

Carter walked and struck out two batters apiece.

Chris Montes de Oca walked, had a pair of doubles, three runs and an RBI.

Jaeden Toki went 3-for-4, including a pair of RBI singles and two runs.

Ryan Severns had two singles, a solo HR and scored three runs.

Blake Torres went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Luke Mendoza singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Moreno walked and had two RBIs.

With two games to play, Damien trails first-place Los Osos by one-half a game, and Etiwanda is just one-half a game behind Chino Hills for third in the Baseline League.
