Felix Goes Six Scoreless in Walnut’s 4-0 Victory at South Hills; WHS & SHHS Tied Atop Hacienda League Standings w/One Week to Play

Baseball:

Walnut showed its heart and mettle on Thursday.

Two days after a disappointing 3-2 loss to visiting South Hills, the Mustangs struck back.

WHS secured a 4-0 victory at SHHS.

With one week to go in the 2024 regular season, South Hills and Walnut are tied atop the Hacienda League standings with identical 7-1 records.

Christian Santoyo got the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and four walks over three innings of work.

Santoyo struck out a pair of Walnut batters.

JJ Rodriguez walked, singled and scored.

Jacob Rodriguez and Matt Velasco walked and scored one run apiece.

Manuel Aguilar and Anthony Baez had RBI singles.

Erick Felix reached based on a fielder’s choice and scored on the Baez single.

Felix also got the win, going six innings and scattering six hits.

Felix walked three and fanned three South Hills batters.

Liam Velasco went one scoreless inning to finish off the Huskies.

Noah Malone had half of the Huskies six hits, including a pair of doubles.

Steven Jimenez, Paul Vasquez, Luke Bauer and Matt Manzo had one single apiece for SHHS.
