Declan Bowers Goes Distance, Allowing One Run on Six Hits in Covina’s 6-1 Valle Vista League Victory Over Charter Oak

Baseball:

Covina got an outstanding effort from Declan Bowers on Wednesday.

He went the distance in a 6-1 Valle Vista League victory over Charter Oak.

Bowers scattered six hits, didn’t issue a walk and struck out a pair of COHS batters.

Bowers needed just 76 pitches to finish what he started and 54 went for strikes.

Michael Zubia had an RBI double.

Moses Medrano doubled and scored.

Julian Salmon singled and doubled.

Kaleb Valencia and Diego Ramirez singled once each for the Chargers.

Zack Escalera was touched up for six runs on nine hits over five innings.

Escalera walked two and fanned a pair of Covina batters.

Donovan Johnson went 3-for-3, with a double and run scored.

Ryan Silva had a pair of RBI singles.

Noah Echeverria scored and drove in runs on a safety squeeze and he bunted into a fielder’s choice.

Donovan Rendon had an RBI single.

Ryan Sarver went 2-for-2 and scored a pair of runs.

Lucas Thorpe walked, singled and scored two runs.

Bowers singled in the win.
