Baseball:

Mother Nature forced Etiwanda and Los Osos to wait until Tuesday for the first of their three-game Baseline League series.

And for all intents and purposes, the Grizzlies put the game away in the first inning.

LOHS scored eight runs in the top of the first inning, and they cruised to a 16-1 victory over the two-time defending Baseline League champions.

The Grizzlies out-hit the Eagles, 17-1.

Four Los Osos pitchers combined to allow one run on one hit.

Reagan Samples earned the win, going four scoreless innings and surrendering just one hit.

Samples walked two and fanned one EHS batter.

Brandon Beck, Davis Sharp and Kyle Humphrey provided one inning of relief apiece.

Beck, who will play for Cuesta College in 2025, made his first appearance in over a year and half because of Tommy John surgery.

He retired the side and struck out two Eagles’ batters to close out the win.

Jaeden Toki had the lone EHS hit, and Chris Montes de Oca walked and scored their fifth-inning run.

Al Moreno got the loss after allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks over the first inning.

Moreno struck out a pair of Grizzlies.

Daniel Lopez went 2-for-3, with two walks, a three-run HR, two runs and four RBIs.

Roberto Topete singled three times, scored twice and drove in four runs.

Reagan Samples walked, singled, doubled, scored and had two RBIs.

Austin Ziello had a three-run double in the first inning, and he scored one run.

Wyatt Mohler went 3-for-5, with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Joshua Chairez singled three times and scored two runs.

Hunter Meyer walked, singled and scored twice.

Jake Monsen drew a pair of walks, singled and scored three runs.

Justin Yeutter singled, scored and had one RBI.
