Boys Tennis:
Thanks to Maranatha tennis for this report:
In easily the worst loss Maranatha has had in over 15 years, the young Minutemen tried to stay with the Geffen Academy, but they could not keep up.
The Bruins simply dominated every set with ease, while the Minutemen could not put up any resistance.
Of note, the best efforts of the day came from the least experienced members of the team.
In doubles, No. 3 Will Klop/Russell Sze put up the biggest fight and showed the biggest heart, forcing Coach Arthur Hsieh to keep them in for a full three rounds, when his original intention was to sub them out after one or two rounds.
In singles, substitute Dien Xie played his best tennis of the season, to the delight of his teammates, before narrowly losing, 6-4.
The Minutemen conclude their season next week with three matches, beginning with a home league match against New Roads at Muir HS on Monday.
