Damien Takes Over First Place in Baseline League w/7-2 Victory at LOHS; Paoletto’s Grand Slam in Seventh Put Game Away

Damien took over sole possession of first place in the Baseline League standings thanks to a couple of victories this week over Los Osos.

On Monday, the Spartans edged the Grizzlies, 3-1, and today, DHS claimed a 7-2 victory at LOHS.

With a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning, Nikko Paoletto put the game away with a grand slam.

Reagan Samples was saddled with the loss in spite of having a solid outing.

Samples went six innings, and he allowed three runs on six hits.

Samples didn’t issue a walk and struck out five Damien batters.

JT Riley went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Eli Bechtel had an RBI triple in the first inning, and he scored once for the Spartans.

Andrew Carter walked, singled, doubled and scored.

JT Lovato walked and singled.

Nathan Ries went 4 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win.

Ries surrendered three hits, walked four and struck out six LOHS batters.

Troy Lopez provided 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Lopez allowed two hits, walked one and fanned a pair of LOHS batters.

Roberto Topete walked, singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Justin Yeutter went 2-for-3.

Jeremiah Jacobo singled and scored.

Hunter Meyer and Wyatt Mohler walked and had one single apiece.
