Bonita Jumps on Ayala Early & Holds on for a 7-6 Palomares League Victory; Bearcats Hold Two-Game Lead Over Second-Place Colony

Baseball:

Two days after dropping its first Palomares League contest of 2024, Bonita responded well.

The Bearcats fell, 7-2, at Ayala, in the first of a three-game set with the Bulldogs.

On Wednesday, however, Bonita led 6-0 after two innings, and they would hold on for a 7-6 victory.

With seven games to play, BHS (7-1 in league) holds a two-game lead over second-place Colony (5-3).

Bryan Yang went one inning for Ayala, and he allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and one walk.

Diego Vazquez drew a pair of walks, singled and scored two runs.

Jared Brunk doubled, scored and had one RBI.

Austin Owens walked, singled and scored.

Andrew Alva went 1-for-3, with a run and one RBI.

Cody White walked, singled, scored twice and drove in one run.

Andrew Sanchez singled once for the Bearcats.

Jayden Rodriguez-Bernal went three innings, and he surrendered four runs (two earned) on four hits.

He walked four and fanned one AHS batter.

Gavin Reeve was charged with two runs (one earned) on three hits over his four innings.

Reeve issued three walks and he struck out three.

Aidan Erlandsen drew a pair of walks, tripled and scored three runs.

Caleb Trugman drew a pair of walks, singled twice, drove in two runs and scored.

Elijah Duarte went 2-for-4.

Jaden Valenzuela tripled and scored.

Dylan Wood walked twice, singled, scored and had one RBI.
