Baseball:
Bonita will enter the final three weeks of the regular season in the Palomares League penthouse.
On Saturday, the Bearcats secured one final nonleague victory after defeating Charter Oak, 8-4, and they improved to 11-6. .
Jack Rudometkin earned the win, as he went 6 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on six hits.
Rudometkin walked three and struck out seven COHS batters.
Zack Escalera went 3-for-4 and scored one run.
Martin Luna singled and scored.
Vincent Carrillo drove in the game’s first run in the top of the first inning.
Diego Ramirez walked, and his RBI single in the top of the fourth gave Charter Oak a 2-0 lead.
Aedyn Martinez had an RBI ground out and scored.
Jorge Aceves walked and scored.
Marcus Reese got the loss after going 3 1/3 innings and surrendering three runs on two hits.
Reese issued three walks and fanned five BHS batters.
Jared Brunk had one-and-two-run doubles, and he scored once.
Carter Alba singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Colton Perez drew a pair of walks, doubled and scored two runs.
Austin Owens and Cody White singled and scored one run apiece.
Diego Vazquez doubled and scored.
Andrew Alva walked, singled, scored twice and had one RBI.
Andrew Sanchez walked and had an RBI ground out.
Up next: The first-place Bearcats travel to Chino Hills on Monday afternoon for the first of a three-game Palomares League set with Ayala.
