Mt. SAC Evens Three-Game SCC Series w/Long Beach After Thursday’s 8-6 Win; Bradshaw & Walters Drove in Two Runs Apiece

College Baseball:

Two days after a 13-run setback, Mt. SAC knocked Long Beach out of the South Coast Conference penthouse on Thursday.

The Mounties claimed an 8-6 victory to even the three-game series at 1-1.

MSAC held an 8-3 lead as the game entered the top of the ninth inning.

LBCC scored three times in the ninth.

Jay Carr was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs on one hit and one walk over his 2/3 of an inning.

With the game tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Andrew Walters hit a two-run HR.

Andrew Ramirez went 2-for-3, with a walk, two doubles, two runs and one RBI.

Ramirez had an RBI double in the seventh to extend the MSAC lead to 7-3.

Jake Hernandez had a pinch-hit double and he scored two runs.

Joey Rossetti went 2-for-3, with a walk, two runs and an RBI.

Bradyn France singled twice and scored.

Bryan Bradshaw drew a pair of walks, singled and drove in a pair of runs.

Joel Gutierrez had an RBI single.

Daniel Briones drove in a seventh-inning run on a sac fly.

Diego Ortiz had a pair of singles in the win.

Kyle Calzadiaz went 6 1/3 innings, and he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits.

Calzadiaz issued five walks and struck out 11 LBCC batters.

Jaden Mackowiak was credited with the win after going 2 1/3 innings, and he surrendered three runs on three hits and one walk.

Blake Hagerty got the final out to earn the save.

Luke Davis drew three walks and his two-run HR in the sixth gave the Vikings a 3-2 lead.

Olin Snakenborg walked, singled, doubled, scored and drove in three.

Caleb Brandon walked, doubled and scored, and AJ Quezada doubled and scored.

Davis Grawey singled, scored and drove in a run.

Reef Danner walked and scored.

Ryan Geck and James Provencio had one single apiece for LBCC.

Up next: Weather permitting, the Mounties and Vikings will decide their series on Saturday in Walnut.

The first pitch is set for noon.
