Baseball:
Los Osos remained the Baseline League leader after it overcame a four-run deficit to their visitors from Upland.
The Grizzlies scored five times in the bottom of the fifth and held on for a 6-5 victory.
Upland got to Reagan Samples for five runs on four hits over four innings.
The Highlanders scored each of their five runs in the top of the second inning.
Samples issued a pair of walks and struck out four.
Connor Donlin was credited with the win.
Donlin went one scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
Wyatt Mohler earned the save by providing a perfect sixth and seventh innings in relief.
The big blow in the five-run second inning was a grand slam by Upland junior, Griffin Cunningham, which gave the Highlanders a 5-1 lead.
Cunningham finished 2-for-4.
Brody Morgan singled twice and scored.
Joaquin Covarrubias had an RBI double that pulled UHS even at 1-1.
Jake Mensen singled and scored.
Carson Kinnick walked and scored.
Josh Angely and Carlos Arteaga had one single apiece in the loss.
Elliot Cresap got the loss after allowing four runs on five hits and one walk over his 1 2/3 innings.
Max Biddle went the first 4 1/3 and he surrendered two runs on seven hits.
Biddle walked two and fanned one LOHS batter.
Justin Yeutter’s three-run blast gave Los Osos a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Yeutter also singled.
Mason Overacker singled and his RBI double in the fifth pulled the Grizzlies to within 5-3.
Jeremiah Jacobo went 3-for-4 and scored.
Jake Monsen singled, scored and drove in one run.
Hunter Meyer’s RBI single in the bottom of the first gave Los Osos a 1-0 lead.
Meyer also scored on Monsen’s base hit in the fifth inning.
Roberto Topete drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Josh Chairez walked and singled, and Wyatt Mohler singled once in the win.
Up next: The Grizzlies go for the three-game sweep on Friday at Memorial Park in Upland.
