GHS Pounds Out 13 Hits in Thursday’s 8-1 Victory Over Patriot; Des Marets & Grable Combine to Silence Warriors’ Offense

Heading into this week, the Glendora baseball program had zero momentum.

The Tartans had lost seven of their last eight games, and they find themselves tied with Alta Loma in the Palomares League cellar.

GHS, however, has now won three consecutive games.

On Tuesday night, the Tartans claimed a 5-2 victory in eight innings over the No. 3 ranked team (Maranatha) in Division 2 at Brookside Park.

That next day, GHS secured a 5-3 victory over a Riverside Prep team that entered the game with an 11-4 record.

And to cap their week, Glendora cruised to an 8-1 victory on Thursday over their visitors from Patriot High School.

Dustin Thayer got the loss after allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits over his three innings.

Thayer walked one and fanned four GHS batters.

Aidan Yamazaki singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Caleb Nguyen went 2-for-3, with a walk and two RBIs.

Troy Estrada drew a pair of walks, singled, doubled, scored twice and had one RBI.

Garrett Dykstra singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.

Tyler Obert hit a solo HR.

Mason Danison doubled and scored two runs.

Cash Dionne singled and scored.

Matthew Martinez had a pair of singles.

Andrew Des Marets went four innings to earn the win, allowing one unearned run on six hits.

Des Marets walked one and struck out three.

Tanner Grable provided three scoreless innings of relief.

Grable allowed one hit, walked one, and fanned one Patriot batter.

Stevan Ortiz went 2-for-2.

Thayer had an RBI single.

Adam Garcia singled twice and scored.

Up next: The Tartans travel to Alta Loma on Monday, April 8th, for the first of a three-game Palomares League series with the Braves.
