Baseball:
South Hills took another step forward on Tuesday towards what they hope will be another Hacienda League championship.
The Huskies defeated Los Altos, 4-0, thanks to a masterful performance by Luke Bauer.
Bauer tossed a one-hit shutout, didn’t issue a walk and fanned five LAHS batters.
Of his 92 pitches, 64 went for strikes.
Sebastian Castillo’s fourth-inning single was all that Bauer would allow.
Jordan Garcia was stuck with the loss.
Garcia surrendered two runs on four hits over 3 2/3 innings.
He walked three and struck out two SHHS batters.
Bauer singled and was hit by pitch with the bases loaded to help his own cause.
Paul Vazquez walked, singled and scored.
Matt Moreno singled, scored and had an RBI ground out.
Steven Jimenez scored and had one RBI.
Carson Baker singled and walked with the bases loaded.
Diego Villarreal reached on an error and scored.
Up next: The Huskies travel to Hacienda Heights on Thursday, and they’ll go for the two-game sweep of the Conquerors.
