Daniel Conness Triples in Two Runs in Top of Eighth Inning to Lead Glendora to a 5-2 Victory Over Maranatha

Glendora scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning on Tuesday night at Brookside Park to claim a 5-2 victory over Maranatha.

The Minutemen (ranked No. 3 in Division 2) scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.

GHS got even in the top of the sixth with two runs of their own.

Aaron Jacobsen went five innings and allowed two runs on six hits.

Jacobsen didn’t issue a walk and fanned five MHS batters.

Matthew Martinez was credited with the win after three scoreless innings of relief.

Martinez allowed two hits and walked a pair of batters.

Doug Zuniga singled in a run in the bottom of the fourth to give Maranatha a 1-0 lead.

AJ Beltre extended the MHS advantage to 2-0 on a sac fly.

Gabe Barragan went 2-for-4 and scored.

Josh Proctor had a pair of singles.

Ethan Zdunek walked, singled and scored.

Jacob Yun walked and singled, and Lukus Perez had one single for the Minutemen.

Zach Strickland went the first six innings for MHS, and he surrendered two runs (one earned) on four hits.

Strickland walked one and struck out eight GHS batters.

Carson Kelly got the loss.

Kelly was charged with three runs on three hits and three walks over two innings.

Kelly fanned a pair of Tartans.

Daniel Conness had a big two-run triple in the top of the eighth for Glendora.

Jacobsen walked, doubled and scored.

Aidan Yamazaki went 2-for-3, with a run and an RBI.

Garrett Dykstra singled and had an RBI ground out.

Caleb Nguyen and Troy Estrada singled and scored one run apiece.

Tyler Obert walked and singled.

Up next: GHS hosts Riverside Prep today (Wednesday) at 3:30.

MHS will host El Rancho on Thursday night at 6.
