Mt. SAC Snaps Five-Game SCC Losing Streak w/a 16-2 Beatdown of PCC; Andrew Walters Hit Grand Slam & Drove in Six Runs

College Baseball:

Mt. SAC snapped its five-game South Coast Conference skid in a big way.

The Mounties pounded out a 16-2 victory over visiting PCC after out-hitting the Lancers 12-5.

Mt. SAC got to Joe Bacon early.

After a pair of first-inning runs, Andrew Walters hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second to give the Mounties a 6-0 lead.

Bacon surrendered eight runs (six earned) on five hits.

He walked three and struck out one.

MSAC got four runs (three earned) off Alex Saucedo on four hits in 2/3 of an inning.

And they roughed up Justin Goldman for four runs on one hit and five walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Walters went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, HR and six RBIs.

Blake Hagerty singled, had two triples, scored twice and drove in one.

Nick Mejia went 3-for-5, with a walk, double, four runs and one RBI.

Bryan Bradshaw drew three walks, scored three runs and had one RBI.

Diego Ortiz singled and drew a walk with the bases loaded.

Andrew Ramirez walked, singled and scored two runs.

Joel Gutierrez singled, scored and drove in a run.

Kaden Moeller went three innings and allowed one run on three hits.

Moeller walked two and fanned six PCC batters.

Matt Viveros provided four innings, and he surrendered one run on one hit.

He walked one and struck out three.

Alejandro Morales and Seth Wrightstone gave John Knott one scoreless inning of relief apiece, and they combined for three strikeouts.

Bryan Richman walked, singled and scored.

Jack Esguerra went 2-for-3, with an RBI.

And Evan Nahra hit a solo HR in the top of the seventh inning.

PCC had hoped to earn its first three-game sweep of Mt. SAC since 2001, however, the Lancers did win their third consecutive series against the Mounties.

Up next: PCC and MSAC will both play in nonconference games this Tuesday.

The Lancers travel to Huntington Beach to take on Golden West.

And the Mounties make the short drive to Glendora to battle Citrus.
