Baseball:
Covina rebounded well from Wednesday’s disappointing 5-4 loss to Diamond Ranch in its Valle Vista League opener.
The Panthers scored twice in the top of the sixth and they got one more in the ninth to edge the Colts.
On Friday, though, CHS scored five times in the top of the fourth, and they went on to claim an 8-2 victory.
Declan Bowers went the distance and allowed two runs on six hits.
Bowers walked one and fanned eight Diamond Ranch batters.
Gabriel Granados singled, doubled and scored.
Benny Aquino had an RBI single.
Saul Parada drove in a run on a sac fly.
Aquino got roughed up for eight runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings.
He issued four walks and struck out a pair of Covina batters.
Brandon Chavez went 3-for-3, with a double, run and RBI.
Jeremiah Pacheco walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.
Bowers walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Ryan Sarver drew two walks and scored.
Ricky Alvarez singled, scored and had one RBI.
Ryan Silva singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Noah Echeverria went 2-for-2, with two RBIs.
Donovan Johnson walked and scored.
Donovan Rendon walked and singled.
