Los Osos got off to a solid start in Baseline League play.
The Grizzlies defeated their visitors from Rancho Cucamonga, 4-2, in LOHS’ first league game.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Los Osos scored once in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and they got one more in the sixth inning to outlast the Cougars.
Aidan Cube got the win, allowing two runs on six hits.
Cube walked five and fanned six RCHS batters.
Wyatt Mohler went a perfect seventh to earn the save.
Jared Sclafani’s two-run double in the top of the fourth gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead.
Jacob Peyton doubled and scored.
Braden Longo walked and scored.
Josh Almeda went 2-for-3.
Brock Foulds walked and singled, and Aiden Bravo had one single.
Isaac Gonzales got the loss after surrendering three runs (two earned) on six hits over five innings.
Gonzales walked three and fanned a pair of LOHS batters.
Mason Overacker went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs.
Justin Yeutter had an RBI double and scored.
Roberto Topete singled in a run, and had an RBI ground out.
Jake Monsen walked and singled twice.
Hunter Meyer walked and had a pair of singles.
Jeremiah Jacobo had an RBI ground out in the bottom of the fourth to pull Los Osos to within 2-1 of the Cougars.
Up next: RCHS will host LOHS on Monday in the second of a three-game series.
