College Baseball:

PCC continued it trek up the South Coast Conference standings on Thursday.

Just 23 days ago, the Lancers were 0-4, and they sat in last place among the nine-team SCC field.

Fast forward to March 21st, and Pasadena City College resides in third place, trailing Cerritos and Long Beach, respectively.

They’ve won eight of their last 10 conference games, including Thursday’s 2-1 victory over visiting Mt. SAC in 11 innings.

The Mounties got on the board in the top of the second inning, as Blake Hagerty scored when Daniel Briones grounded into a double play.

The Lancers got even in the fourth.

Mark Manuel’s sac fly to right scored Adrian Roman.

Both of Thursday’s starters pitched well enough to win.

Kyle Calzadiaz went six innings for John Knott, and he allowed an unearned run on five hits.

Calzadiaz issued a pair of walks and fanned four Lancers.

Justin Cardenas provided three scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits, no walks and three strikeouts.

Jaden Mackowiak got the loss after allowing one run on two hits and two walks over 1 1/3 innings.

With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 11th inning, Mackowiak walked Evan Nahra.

That allowed Jack Esguerra to jog home with the game-winning run.

Adrian Roman went 3-for-5, with a run.

Esguerra singled twice and scored.

Nahra walked twice, including the game’s final at-bat.

Bryan Richman, Thomas Villanueva, Mark Manuel and Ivan Barragan had singles for the Lancers.

Jameson Ferraro went seven innings for Pat McGee, and he allowed one unearned run on five hits.

Ferraro walked two and fanned one Mt. SAC batter.

Connor Campbell earned the win.

Andrew Walters and Ty Thomas had two hits apiece for the Mounties.

Nick Mejia, Kaden Moeller, Blake Hagerty and Andrew Ramirez all singled for MSAC.
