College Baseball:
PCC opened its three-game South Coast Conference series with Mt. SAC with a 9-4 road victory.
The Lancers surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Ernesto Duenas and Ben Griffith made sure that was about it for the Mounties offense.
Duenas went six innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on nine hits.
Duenas issued four walks, and he struck out four MSAC batters.
Griffith got the final nine outs, and he surrendered one run on three hits.
Griffith walked two and fanned three Mounties.
Blake Haggerty walked, singled, had two doubles and scored one run.
Andrew Walters went 3-for-5, with two singles, a triple, one run and an RBI.
Joey Rossetti singled twice and scored.
Ty Thomas had a two-run triple for the Mounties.
Andrew Ramirez had an RBI double.
Andres Mitat walked and singled.
Joel Gutierrez walked, singled and scored.
Matt Lorenzano went 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on five hits.
Lorenzano walked four and struck out six PCC batters.
Jack Esguerra drew two walks, singled, scored and his three-run triple in the top of the fifth inning gave the Lancers their first lead at 4-3.
Bryan Richman went 3-for-3, with a walk, two singles, one run, and his two-run double in the sixth extended the PCC advantage to 6-3.
Adrian Roman singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Thomas Villanueva singled and scored.
Tyler Garcia walked, singled and scored three runs.
Evan Nahra walked and scored.
Devin Munoz walked, had two singles, an RBI and scored one run.
Up next: PCC will host MSAC on Thursday at 2.
