Baseball:
What a way to open Mission Valley League play.
The Marshall Fundamental baseball program defeated Gabrielino, 5-0, on Wednesday.
And Ethan Sparks and Wes Pendleton combined on a no-hitter.
Sparks went five innings to earn the win.
He struggled with his control, walking six, but Sparks struck out 10 Gabrielino batters.
Pendleton got the final six outs.
He issued one walk and fanned five.
Jacob Galindo was saddled with the loss.
Galindo went four innings and surrendered two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over four innings.
Trevor Lain walked three times, doubled and scored.
Ben Muro singled and doubled.
George Jennings went 2-for-3, with a double and an RBI.
Nate Callaway had an RBI single.
Caleb Delgado singled and scored.
Pendleton walked, scored and had an RBI.
Derek Esparza singled and scored.
