There are your (butt) kickings, and then there’s Maranatha’s mauling of Heritage Christian on Tuesday.
The Minutemen crushed their host, 27-0, in five innings.
They out-hit the Warriors, 19-1, in an Olympic League contest.
MHS scored 15 runs in the top of the third, and they sent 18 batters to the plate that inning.
Andrew Miller got the win after going three scoreless innings.
Miller allowed a first inning double to Nicholas Boldt, but that would be the last Warriors base hit of the game.
He didn’t issue a walk and struck out five.
Matthew Vazquez went two scoreless inning and fanned a pair of Heritage Christian batters.
Will Pena was charged with the loss.
Pena surrendered eight runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings.
Thomas Lieb had a monster game for MHS.
Lieb went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two homers, four runs and nine RBIs.
Lieb’s inside-the-park home run in the third inning was a grand slam.
AJ Beltre singled, drove in two and scored three runs.
Beau Stubbs walked, doubled, scored three times and had three RBIs.
Zach Strickland hit a two-run home run.
Jacob Yun had an RBI single, a two-run double, and a two-run homer.
Eric Zdunek doubled, homered, and scored a pair of runs.
Carter Shupper walked, singled, scored three runs and had one RBI.
AJ Campana went 2-for-3, with an RBI and run scored.
Up next: MHS travels to Village Christian (5-2-1, 1-1) on Friday at 3:30.
