Menlove Goes Five Innings & Strikes Out Nine in Monrovia’s 6-2 RHL Victory Over Temple City; Maljian Went 3-for-3 w/Two Runs

Baseball:

Nine days after a Rio Hondo League opening setback (4-0) at the hands of San Marino, the Monrovia baseball program finds itself in first place.

On Monday, the Wildcats thumped La Canada, 11-0, and they would travel to Temple City on Friday.

The Rams were coming off a 1-0 victory (on Monday) over San Marino in nine innings.

MHS would take most of the drama out of this one, scoring once in the top of the first inning, and four times in the second to take a 5-0 lead.

The Wildcats held on for a 6-2 RHL victory.

Zach Menlove earned the win, going five innings and allowing one run on five hits.

Menlove issued three walks and struck out nine TCHS batters.

James Quesenbery and Nicolas Armendariz provided one inning of relief apiece, and they combined to strike out three.

Offensively, Micah Maljian went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

Noah Ellison singled, scored and had an RBI.

Silas Brusseau singled and scored.

Julian Fernandez walked and scored.

Up next: The Wildcats travel to Village Christian on Wednesday and they’ll host South Pasadena on Thursday.
