Mt. SAC Earns Victories of 6-5 & 10-9 Over Compton to Secure Three-Game South Coast Conference Sweep

College Baseball:

It was a long, but successful Saturday for the Mt. SAC baseball program.

Thanks to Mother Nature, the Mounties and Tartars were forced to play a doubleheader to complete their three-game South Coast Conference series.

MSAC secured a three-game sweep because of Saturday’s 6-5 and 10-9 victories.

The Mounties out-hit the Tartars, 25-15, on Saturday.

The two games featured a combined 18 pitchers.

Game One Notes:

Jaden Mackowiak was credited with the win, going 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Mackowiak allowed two hits, didn’t issue a walk and struck out three.

Ray Northey earned the save by getting the final out.

Jonathan Alvarez singled and hit a three-run HR for Compton.

Jacob Pech went 3-for-4, with a walk and one run.

Kaiga Nakawake singled and scored.

Gabriel Lizarraga went six innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits.

Lizarraga walked three and fanned a trio of MSAC batters.

Javier Lopez was saddled with the loss after surrendering an unearned run on two hits.

Lopez provided three innings, issued a pair of walks and struck out three.

Joel Quemada went 2-for-4, including two runs and a solo HR.

Kaden Moeller walked, doubled, scored and drove in two.

Bryan Bradshaw walked, singled and scored.

Joel Gutierrez walked, singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.

Ty Thomas singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Game Two Notes:

Mt. SAC out-hit Compton, 17-4, in their 10-9 victory.

Jacob Ramirez was roughed up for six runs on nine hits over four innings.

Elias Pacheco got the loss after allowing one run on one hit and a walk over 2/3 of an inning.

Moeller tallied three singles, two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Gutierrez went 4-for-4, including a double and one RBI.

Bradshaw walked twice, singled and scored two runs.

Diego Ortiz singled three times and scored.

Daniel Briones doubled, scored and had one RBI.

Bradyn France hit a solo HR for the Mounties.

Nick Mejia had a two-run triple.

Andrew Ramirez walked, singled and drove in a run.

Quemada singled, scored and had one RBI.

Compton got to Kyle Calzadiaz for six runs (three earned) on three hits over three innings, and they touched up Northey for three runs on one hit over 1 1/3 innings.

Calzadiaz walked one and fanned five Tartars, while Northey issued one walk and struck out two.

Matt Viveros was credited with the win after going 2/3 of a scoreless inning in relief.

Mackowiak earned the save after a perfect ninth inning.

Deegan Grgas had a three-run double and a two-run HR.

Quincy Quintero singled in a pair of runs.

Up next: The Mounties travel to Cerritos on Tuesday at 2.
