Maranatha opened defense of its Olympic League championship in dominating fashion.

The Minutemen crushed Cerritos Valley Christian, 10-0, in five innings.

Zach Strickland tossed a one-hit shutout.

Strickland issued one walk and fanned eight CVC batters.

Riley Jones was stuck with the loss.

Jones surrendered nine runs on five hits over 2 2/3 innings.

He walked six and struck out a pair of MHS batters.

Gabe Barragan walked, doubled, drove in a pair and scored twice.

Bradley Loiacono singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

AJ Beltre doubled and scored.

Douglas Zuniga walked twice and scored.

Thomas Lieb walked, doubled and scored.

Eric Zdunek singled, scored and had an RBI on a sac fly.

Matthew Kurkdijian had an RBI single.
