Boys Soccer:

Whatever Walker Haynes is telling his players, it’s working big time.

Maranatha is headed to the CIF-SS Division 6 title game on a nine-game win streak.

MHS earned that privilege after its dispatching of Westminster, 5-1, on Friday.

The Minutemen took a 3-0 lead into the break, and the outcome was never in doubt.

Caleb Freeman completed the hat trick after scoring a pair of goals in the first half, and one more in the second.

Freeman’s first-half goals were assisted by George Peterson and Kurtis Kwong.

Miles Romero also scored in the three-goal first half.

Luca Youssefian finished off the win with a second-half goal.

Lorenzo Rodriguez blocked three shots in goal for MHS.

Up next: Maranatha will meet up with Wilson next Friday or Saturday in the D-6 title game.

CIF has yet to set the date or location as of early Saturday morning.

The Wildcats (13-7-5) edged Arcadia, 1-0, in their semifinal round contest.

Quotable:

Maranatha coach, Walker Haynes: “This Maranatha team is special. They work hard, are exciting to watch, and fun to coach. Their energy, chemistry and camaraderie have carried them deep into the CIF tournament, and it has been an honor and privilege to coach them this season!”
