CIF-SS Southern Division Individuals:
Not a bad start to her career.
In just three years as a wrestler, Glendora’s Sam Sachs is a three-time CIF-SS champion.
The GHS junior went 5-0 with five pins.
The shortest being 13 seconds, and the longest was Nordhoff’s Jayleen Garrett, who lasted 1:04 in her semifinal showdown with Sachs.
Walnut’s Sienna Montanez went 5-0, including four pins.
Montanez defeated Zitali Morales, 1-0, in the 100-pound title bout.
Walnut senior Anaya Falcon pinned her way to a 105-pound championship.
Falcon stuck Tesoro’s Maggie Cornish at 3:19 in their title match.
Deandra Mesa (Walnut) claimed a 110-pound title, with two pins and three decision victories.
Colony’s Aubrey Hernandez (120) had a memorable weekend.
The Titans junior tallied two pins, two decision victories and one via injury.
But she saved her bast for last, defeating top-seeded Eliana Garcia, 2-1, of Walnut in the finals.
Walnut’ Jasmine Macias pinned her way to a 130-pound championship.
Four of Macias’ five pins came in under one minute.
Colony’s Renice Gonzalez secured the 135-pound title with four pins and a tech fall.
In the title bout, Gonzalez stuck top-seeded Isabella Sermana in 1:38.
